The tragic events of the last fortnight, both locally and interstate, are a timely reminder of the importance of checking our smoke alarms. This is a quick and simple job that should be done twice a year. With an increase in the number of house fires during the later part of the year typically originating from faulty Christmas lights, now is the perfect time to check your alarms are fully operational prior to the end of the year.
In a tenanted property, it is the tenants’ responsibility to attend to this important bi-annual check. If the alarm isn’t working, the battery should be replaced. Should the alarm fail to work after the battery is replaced, the Property Manager should be contacted immediately to arrange its repair as the safety of our tenants is of the utmost importance to our Property Management team.
