Look for someone who will offer realistic expectations when it comes to pricing your home. An overpriced home will increase time on market and add unnecessary advertising expenses. A good agent will provide you with a comparative market analysis, offering a snapshot of similar homes on the market in your area.
Communication: You want someone who will keep you in the loop at all times, who will answer your phone calls and respond to your emails promptly.
Word of mouth: You want an agent whose reputation precedes them. Ask friends, family or co-workers who have recently bought or sold for their honest opinion. Google the agent. It is amazing what you can find out about a person from a simple search.
